A native of Barbados, Bowen took out his jockey's license in 2007 and earned his first stakes win aboard Shacane that year in the Peter Redekop BC Cup Classic at Hastings. Hemrode Stopshoppingdebbie to eight stakes wins at Emerald Downs in 2013 and 2014.
In 2020, Bowen picked up a milestone win aboard Dox Folly at Horseshoe Indianapolis on Nov. 11 for his 1,000th career victory. Bowen's first graded stakes win came at Emerald when winning the 2021 Longacres Mile Handicap on Background.
