The Grade 1, $1.25 million Runhappy Travers Stakes, also known as “The Mid-Summer Derby,” brings together a field of eight, most with top credentials in what shapes up to be a phenomenal race.

A Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” race that feeds to the Grade 1 Longines Turf, this race was named after a famous horse from the late 1950s. Sword Dancer won the Belmont Stakes, the Travers Stakes, the Jockey Club Gold Cup and a host of other key races en route to a Hall of Fame career.

The historic $1.25 million, Grade 1 Runhappy Travers Stakes at Saratoga Race Course dates all the way back to 1864, which means it is older than the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve, Preakness St

The Canadian Stakes Presented by Japan Racing Association, which will be run Sunday, Aug. 21 at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto on the E.P. Taylor turf course, showcases a talented field of eight fillies and mares for a purse of $200,000.
