The Grade 2, $200,000 Seabiscuit Handicap Saturday at Del Mar brings together a big field of 13 turf horses from around North America in what should be an extraordinary race to watch and to wager on.

Starting on Thanksgiving Day and continuing through Sunday, a bevy of graded stakes races are slated to take place at racetracks throughout the United States. Falling three weeks after the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, the Thanksgiving-week stakes slate annually ranks among the most fun and competitive weeks of racing on the national calendar.

America’s Best Racing and handicapper (and avid gambler) Monique Vág team up to provide horseplayers with their best bets of the weekend.

Vág will identify her top picks as well as at least one longshot play of the weekend, a nice opportunity to swing for the fences on a win bet or to take a shot with a show bet. She also will occasionally look for strong exacta plays for the weekend or try to spot a nice opportunity for other wagers.

This Weekend’s Bets

Saturday’s $100,000, Grade 3 Chilukki Stakes at Churchill Downs drew a competitive field of nine fillies and mares ages 3 and older to contest a one-turn mile on Churchill’s dirt track.

The field for the Grade 2, $175,000 Kennedy Road Stakes is led by Pink Lloyd, a fan favorite who has racked up 26 wins from 32 races all on the all-weather main track at Woodbine, including all four starts in his 2020 campaign.
