all in Gambling

Every year, handicappers, gamblers, and racing fans alike pore over the past performances for the Kentucky Derby hoping to see something in one of the contenders that almost nobody else sees.

The long-awaited 146th running of the $3 million, Grade 1 Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve at Churchill Downs drew 17 horses – and also Tiz the Law, for a total of 18.

Better late than never, the $3 million, Grade 1 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodward Reserve will finally take place on Saturday, Sept. 5 at Churchill Downs, four months later than its traditional date on the first Saturday in May.

While the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve is understandably dominating the attention of handicappers these days, we would be remiss for failing to recognize the competitive nature of Friday’s $1.25 million, Grade 1 Longines Kentucky Oaks.

The Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve isn’t the only historic race postponed due to COVID-19. Its companion event, the $1.25 million Grade 1 Longines Kentucky Oaks for 3-year-old fillies, has likewise been delayed from May 1 to Sept. 4.
