There were 94,128 $2 paper-ticket win bets made on American Pharoah in the Belmont Stakes. So far only 3,891 of those have been cashed. That’s most likely because people are holding on to those $2 win tickets as souvenirs of the first Triple Crown winner since 1978. Either that or they are hoping to cash in for more than the $3.50 the ticket is worth at the windows by selling them to collectors.

Some of America’s top turf routers will be on hand Saturday at Churchill Downs for the $100,000 Louisville Handicap. I consider this a great, fun wagering opportunity, in a horse racing landscape that is set to become crowded with Triple Crown fever.
