Brunacini

Brunacini won his career debut in a seven-furlong maiden race at Ellis Park on July 28, 2024, and the race turned out to be a key maiden race, with both the second- and third-place horses coming back to win their next outings. He attempted to stretch out to 1 1/16 miles at Churchil Downs on Sept. 19 and led much of the way until fading in the late stages to finish fifth despite losing the race by a total of a half a length.

Brunacini was back at seven furlongs in his third career start and got a big class test in the Grade 3 $300,000 Perryville Stakes going seven furlongs at Keeneland on Oct. 19. Sent off at 28-1 odds in a field of nine 3-year-olds, Brunacini stalked the pace in the Perryville, gained ground wide into the stretch, and battled through the stretch to get up for a win by a neck over favored Book'em Danno.

Brunacini is trained by Matthew Sims. He was bred in Kentucky by the sire Dortmund out of the mare Our Conquistadora by Wilburn.
