Change of Control

Change of Control won her first career stakes race on May 11, 2019, at Churchill Downs. She won the Mamzelle Stakes at Churchill Downs by 1 3/4 lengths in a 35.90-1 upset, rallying from the last to score while going away. The final time for five furlongs on turf was 56.25 seconds.

Almost two years later, Change of Control got her second stakes win, pulling off an 8.90-1 surprise in the Giant's Causeway Stakes at Keeneland. Just as she did in the Mamzelle, she sat well behind early and made her move turning for home. Jockey Colby Hernandez timed the winning move perfectly, chasing down leader Into Mystic late to win it.  That win marked the 500th victory in the career of trainer Michelle Lovell.

In her next start, Change of Control kept up that good form with a close second in another listed stakes at Churchill Downs in late April, finishing second to Into Mystic.

Shipped to New York for the Grade 3 Intercontinental Stakes at Belmont Park, she stretched out to seven furlongs successfully under Colby Hernandez and scored a breakthrough graded stakes win by 1 1/2 lengths on June 3. Change of Control next finished third, beaten by a half-length, in the Grade 2 Royal North Stakes Aug. 1 at Woodbine, where she subsequently faded late when trying to stretch out in distance in an unplaced finish in the Grade 1 Ricoh Woodbine Mile on Sept. 18.

Change of Control regained her best form Oct. 15 at Keeneland when she rallied with a sustained, powerful rally to win the Grade 3 Buffalo Trace Franklin County Stakes by 1 1/2 lengths.
