Comparative, a daughter of Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense, made five starts before earning her first victory, which came in a 1 1/16-mile race on Fair Grounds’ dirt track in February 2023. The Godolphin homebred backed that up with a three-quarter-length score in a Keeneland allowance optional claiming race in April, but then endured a tough trip in her stakes debut, the Grade 2 George E. Mitchell Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico and finished eighth.

After a six-month break, Comparative returned for trainer Brad Cox in a one-mile allowance optional claiming race at Aqueduct in November and won by 1 ¼ lengths. To kick off a 4-year-old campaign, Comparative tallied her first stakes win in the Ladies Stakes back at Aqueduct, taking the 1 1/8-mile race by a neck after a sustained stretch duel with Saddle Up Jessie.

Comparative then tried graded stakes company again, shipping to Oaklawn Park for the Grade 3 Bayakoa Stakes on Feb. 2. Facing a solid field, she contested the early pace and again came out best when challenged in the stretch, defeating Ice Orchid by a half-length under Manny Franco.

Comparative is out of the unraced Bernardini mare Collective, and she is a full sister (same sire [father] and dam [mother]) to Grade 3 winner Shared Sense.
