Daddy Is a Legend won her third career start before stepping up to graded stakes competition in November 2017 at Del Mar, where she won the Grade 3 Jimmy Durante Turf Stakes.
She finished fourth in a graded stakes race in her 2018 debut before running third, beaten by three-quarters of a length, in the Grade 3 Edgewood Stakes on the Longines Kentucky Oaks undercard. After finishing fourth again in the Grade 3 Wonder Again Stakes at Belmont Park in June, she regained her winning form with a hard-fought victory in the Grade 3 Lake George Stakes at Saratoga on July 20.

Daddy Is a Legend next finished third in the Grade 2 Lake Placid Stakes at Saratoga and then escaped injury in the Grade 3 Valley View Stakes at Keeneland after she ducked through the inside rail in midstretch. After that near-catastrophe, the filly rebounded nicely with a near-miss second in the Grade 1 Matriarch Stakes at Del Mar on Dec. 2, losing by a half-length to Uni.
In 2019, Daddy is a Legend was graded stakes-placed three times, but won only an allowance race at Keeneland on October 24. She went 0-for-2 in 2020, but found the winner's circle in her 2021 debut, an allowance win at Keeneland on April 22.
