Empire House was the third-place finisher in the Grade 2 Zenyatta Stakes going 1 1/16 miles at Santa Anita on Oct. 2, 2022. The daughter of Empire Maker broke her maiden as a 2-year-old in her second career race on Dec. 18, 2020 at Los Alamitos, and then won one race in 10 outings as a 3-year-old in 2021 when taking an allowance race on Oct. 21, 2021.
Empire House was the third-place finisher in the Grade 2 Zenyatta Stakes going 1 1/16 miles at Santa Anita on Oct. 2, 2022. The daughter of Empire Maker broke her maiden as a 2-year-old in her second career race on Dec. 18, 2020 at Los Alamitos, and then won one race in 10 outings as a 3-year-old in 2021 when taking an allowance race on Oct. 21, 2021. Most of her losses were on the synthetic surface at Golden Gate Fields in 2021 and the first half of 2022, but Empire House’s form took a big positive swing in the right direction in her 4-year-old season, starting on June 17, 2022 at Pleasanton when she won an allowance-optional claiming race.
Moving back to her preferred dirt surface, Empire House won again in her next outing, earning her first stakes victory in the California Governor’s Cup Stakes going six furlongs on July 23. Empire House made her graded stakes debut in the Grade 3 Rancho Bernardo Handicap at Del Mar on Aug. 23 at 6 ½ furlongs and finished fourth, and then recorded a second-place finish at Los Alamitos Racecourse on Sept. 18 going one mile in the Dark Mirage Stakes.
Empire House is trained by Jonathan Wong and was bred in Kentucky out of the Mineshaft mare Mama Yay, an unraced full sister (same sire and dam) to Dialed In, winner of the 2011 Florida Derby and now a sire.
