After another impressive win against Maryland-bred allowance horses on Jul. 17, Fiya was privately purchased by Robert Masiello, and placed in the care of trainer Tom Albertrani. In his first start for new connections at Belmont Park on Sept. 20, Fiya crushed a first-level allowance field by 3 1/4 lengths under Luis Saez. He ended hs campaign with two stakes wins, in the Maryland Million Turf Sprint and the Claiming Crown Canterbury Stakes.
