After hitting the board in both the $200,000 Hot Springs Stakes and the $200,000 Bachelor Stakes at Oaklawn Park, Frost Free broke through at the stakes level with a win in the Grade 3 $200,000 Chick Lang Stakes at Pimlico on the May 18 Preakness undercard. Sent off as the 9-5 favorite atop a field of eight in the six-furlong Chick Lang, Frost Free went wire-to-wire to win by 1 1/2 lengths.
