Frosted

Frosted was a bridesmaid for most of his 2-year-old season, finishing second in two maiden races before breaking through with a 5 1/4-length victory in his third start. Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin then tested his colt at a tougher level when he entered Frosted in the Grade 2 Remsen Stakes. The move nearly proved to be successful with Frosted finishing just a half-length behind Leave the Light On to get a graded stakes placing in his first stakes start.

Frosted began his 3-year-old season with a second-place finish to Upstart in the Grade 2 Holy Bull Stakes in January at Gulfstream Park. After a disappointing fourth-place finish in the Fountain of Youth Stakes, Frosted rebounded with a powerhouse victory in the Grade 1 Wood Memorial Stakes to punch his ticket to the Kentucky Derby.

Frosted encountered some troubvle in the Kentucky Derby but battled on to finish fourth. His connections bypassed the Preakness Stakes in favor of the Belmont Stakes, and Frosted rewarded them with a runner-up finish behind Triple Crown winner American Pharoah in the 1 1/2-mile Belmont.

Frosted returned from a short break following the Belmont with a second-place finish to Texas Red in the Jim Dandy Stakes in August. he followed with a third-place finish in the Grade 1 Travers Stakes.

Frosted regained his winning form on Sept. 19 at Parx Racing in the $1-million Pennsylvania Derby. He powered away to a dominant victory that set him up well for the 2015 Breeders' Cup World Championships. At the Breeders' Cup, Frosted finished seventh in the $5-million Classic.

Sent to Dubai to begin his 4-year-old season, Frosted won a Group 2 race impressively at Meydan as a prep for the $10-million Dubai World Cup before finishing fifth in the World Cup. Frosted regained his elite form in his return to the U.S., drawing away to a runaway victory in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap. The Met Mile is a Breeders' Cup Challenge Series "Win and You're In" race for the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile, which guaranteed Frosted a starting spot in the race.

In his next race, Frosted was equally impressive in delivering a powerhouse performance while winning the $1.25 Million Whitney Stakes to earn a starting spot in the Breeders' Cup Classic. He subsequently finished third as the heavy favorite in the Grade 1 Woodward Stakes.

From the internationally famous Darley breeding program, Frosted is by America's leading sire Tapit. But that isn't the only big name on his page as his dam, Fast Cookie, is the 2003 Grade 2 Cotillion winner and is a half-sister to 2008 Breeders' Cup winner and 2-year-old champion Midshipman. Frosted's full sister Macaroon is also a stakes performer.
