Loft, a German-bred and –based Aderflug gelding, shipped to New York in 2022 and won the Grade 2, two-mile Belmont Gold Cup June 10 by 3 ¼ lengths with an off-the-pace rally under Andrasch Starke.
Prior to his North American win, he had posted two wins, four seconds, and two thirds in 10 starts. In his race prior to the Belmont Gold Cup, he won another two-mile race, the Group 2 Comer Group Oleander Rennen, by a half-length at Hoppegarten Racecourse on May 15.
Loft is owned by Manfred Ostermann and trained by Marcel Weiss.
