Neecie Marie

Neecie Marie went from humble beginnings as a maiden claimer and has become a graded stakes winner. She won her maiden race in her second career start in a six-furlong dirt race versus maiden claimers at Parx on May 8, 2023. She then switched to the turf and won two more times in 2023 including a victory in the $100,000 Mrs. Penny Stakes at Parx on Aug. 21. She also added back-to-back graded stakes runner-up finishes later in 2023, in the Grade 3 Jockey Club Oaks Invitational and in the Grade 2 Sands Point Stakes, both at Belmont at the Big A.

Neecie Marie began her 4-year-old campaign on May 11, 2024, in the Grade 3 $175,000 Beaugay Stakes going 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Aqueduct. Sent off as the 7.90-1 fourth choice on the tote board in a five-horse field, Neecie Marie rallied from last to get up in time to win by a neck for her first career graded stakes victory.

Neecie Marie proceeded through a solid 4-year-old season with a second-place finish in the Grade 1 New York Stakes on June 7 at Saratoga and a third-place finish in the Grade 2 Beverly D. Stakes on Aug. 11 at Colonial Downs. She then scored a signature victory at Kentucky Downs in the $1.3 million Grade 3 Light & Wonder Ladies Marathon going 1 5/16 miles on Sept. 7. In the Ladies Marathon, Neecie Marie made her textbook late run from the rear of the field to get up and win comfortably by 2 3/4 lengths over a field of nine.

Neecie Marie is trained by Butch Reid. She was bred in Pennsylvania by the sire Cross Traffic out of the mare Lode Lady by Posse.
