Never Surprised

Never Surprised started his career with two consecutive victories on the grass. He won a maiden special weight race at Aqueduct going six furlongs on Nov. 8, then won the Central Park Stakes going 1 1/16 miles on Nov. 28.

In his first start of his 3-year-old season, Never Surprised finished second in the Kitten's Joy Stakes at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 30, 2021. After that effort, Never Surprised went to the sidelines for several months. He finished second in two graded stakes races, then won the Gio Ponti Stakes at Aqueduct by 6 1/4 lengths on Nov. 26 in an impressive performance. He set a track record for 1 1/16 miles on the outer turf course at Aqueduct, in 1:40.75.

Never Surprised wrapped up his 3-year-old season with a dominant victory in the Tropical Park Derby at Gulfstream on Dec. 26. He went gate-to-wire and crushed the field as the odds-on favorite. Next out, he set the early pace in the Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational Presented by Baccarat, but got caught late and had to settle for second. 

Never Surprised sold for $200,000 at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale in 2019. He's sired by Constitution, out of the unraced Tiznow mare Tiz Dixie.
