Order and Law

Order and Law raced six times as a 2-year-old in 2018, closing from well off the pace on yielding turf to win the three-quarter-mile Laurel Futurity by a nose in his lone win of the year.

The bay ridgling by Violence was winless in eight starts as a 3-year-old in 2019, finishing second twice (once on turf and once on the dirt at Del Mar).

Order and Law halted a 14-race winless stretch in his fourth start of 2020, winning a starter-allowance race by 1 ½ lengths going a mile on the main track at Santa Anita Park on March 31. Three starts later, he won a one-mile turf allowance race in July 2020 at Del Mar. He posted his third win of the year in his final race in 2020, winning a 1 1/16-mile allowance-optional claiming race by 1 3/4 lengths Oct. 24, 2020, at Santa Anita Park.

Order and law posted back-to-back wins to open his 2021 season, winning a mile turf race at Santa Anita and a one-mile dirt race at Del Mar. He was claimed several times in 2021 and tried stakes competition again. He was unplaced in a pair of Grade 2 race and ran a determined second by a neck in the one-mile Lure Stakes in between in October 2021 at Santa Anita.

Order and Law was again claimed on multiple occasions in 2022 while winning once in nine starts. He finished fourth in the 1 ½-mile Cougar II Stakes at Del Mar in his first try at a marathon distance.

The following year, Order and Law earned a breakthrough first graded stakes win in the Grade 3 Cougar II, pulling away to win by 2 ¼ lengths in his fourth race in 2023 for trainer Bob Hess Jr. Order and Law became a graded stakes winner in his 42^nd career start.

Kentucky-bred Order and Law is out of the winning Shakespeare mare Poetic Kid from the family of 2019 Epsom Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck; Grade 1 winners Morning Line, Express Train, and November Snow; and New Zealand champion sprinter Bounding.
