Pink Lloyd

Late-blooming Pink Lloyd, an Old Forester gelding, won his first three career starts in 2016, suffered two defeats, and then reeled off four consecutive wins to kick off 2017, all in stakes races. The Robert Tiller-trained horse captured his first career stakes win at Woobine in the Grade 3 Vigil Stakes on July 16, contesting the early pace and rebuffing bids from two challengers at the top of the stretch to score by 2 ¼ lengths as the odds-on favorite.

Pink Lloyd extended his stakes winning streak as the 2017 season progressed and emerged as a candidate for Canadian Horse of the Year by following his Vigil win with victories in the Shepperton Stakes on Aug. 12, the  Kenora Stakes Presented by HBPA of Ontario on Aug. 30, and the Overskate Stakes by four lengths on Oct. 29. He capped a Canadian record-setting, unbeaten 2017 season with his eighth straight stakes win in the Grade 2 Kennedy Road Stakes on Nov. 25. He was named 2017 Canadian Horse of the Year, champion sprinter, and champion older horse.

Pink Lloyd continued his winning ways into 2018, taking his first three stakes at Woodbine. His streak ended at 11 on July 8 in the listed Shepperton Stakes, when he finished third, but the gelding rebounded nicely on July 29 at his home track with a second consecutive win in the Grade 3 Vigil Stakes. He added a win in the black-type OLG Kenora Stakes before finishing fourth and fifth in his final two starts of the year. Pink Lloyd won the Sovereign Award as Canada's champion sprinter for 2018.

The gelding made his 7-year-old debut a winning one, capturing the six-furlong, Grade 3 Jacques Cartier Stakes at Woodbine in impresive fashion. He then won a black-type stakes at Woodbine in June before trying for a third win in the Grade 3 Vigil Stakes on July 14 at Woodbine. Pink Lloyd stalked the pace in the Vigil and effortlessly moved to the front in early stretch en route to another authoritative victory. He followed with victories in the Shepperton Stakes and OLG Kenora Stakes Presented by HBPA of Ontario before he broke through the starting gate and was declared a non-starter in the Grade 3 Bold Venture Stakes. Pink Lloyd got back on track in the Grade 3 Kennedy Road Stakes. He was pinched back to last in traffic on the backstretch but surged into contention with a sweeping rally and edged away late to prevail. For winning six of seven start in 2019, Pink Lloyd took home Sovereign Awards as champion sprinter and champion older horse in Canada.

Pink Lloyd opened his 8-year-old season in the Grade 3 Jacques Cartier Stakes June 25 at Woodbine and won the race for the fourth consecutive year with a facile two-length victory. He followed that up with wins in the Shepperton Stakes and the Grade 3 Bold Venture Stakes. On Sept. 5, Pink Lloyd nearly broke his own track record for three-quarters of a mile when he won the Grade 3 Vigil Stakes in 1:08.06, just missing his Woodbine mark of 1:08.05 while winning the Vigil for the fourth year in a row.

Pink Lloyd's five-race winning streak came to a halt with a third-place finish in the Grade 2 Kennedy Road Stakes Nov. 21 at Woodbine.

Pink Lloyd made his 2021 debut in the Grade 3 Jacques Cartier Stakes at Woodbine on June 20, in search of his fifth win in a row in this race. After a rough start and a wide trip, he ended up second, beaten four lengths by Souper Stonehenge. He bounced back with a win in the Grade 3 Bold Venture Stakes on Sept. 25.

Pink Lloyd made his final career start a winning one. He won the Grade 2 Kennedy Road Stakes at Woodbine on Nov. 27, rallying wide in the stretch and getting up in the last few strides to prevail.
