Pixelate

Pixelate, a Godolphin homebred City Zip colt, finished third and second in his first two races before breaking his maiden by 2 ½ lengths at Arlington Park in September 2019. He was then elevated to stakes company and finished second in the listed Awad Stakes at Belmont Park before winning the listed Central Park Stakes at Aqueduct in December to close out his 2-year-old campaign.

In 2020, Pixelate continued to race competitively in stakes events for trainer Mike Stidham, starting in five of them at four different tracks and finishing second three times and third twice. On Sept. 6, he shipped to California and broke through to tally his first graded stakes win, rallying strongly from off of the pace under Umberto Rispoli to take the Grade 2 Del Mar Derby by a head.

Pixelate earned his first win of 2021 at Pimlico on June 13, when he won the Prince George's County Stakes by a length. Sent off as the 1.10-1 favorite, he rated off the pace on the inside under Joe Bravo, then moved wide in the stretch and wore down Logical Myth late.

In his next start, Pixelate finished third in the Buckland Stakes at Colonial Downs, and then Stidham shipped him to Kentucky Downs for the $845,875, Grade 3 WinStar Mint Million Stakes on Sept. 6.

With red-hot jockey Joel Rosario in the irons, Pixelate rallied from off the pace to win the one-mile turf race going away, defeating multiple graded stakes winner Somelikeithotbrown by 2 ½ lengths.

Pixelate is out of the stakes-winning Street Cry mare Speckled.
