Program Trading (GB)

Program Trading began his career with a win at first asking as a 3-year-old in a maiden race at Monmouth Park on May 14, 2023, taking a 1 1/16-mile turf race by five lengths. He then earned a repeat win in his second start, which was an allowance optional claiming level victory in a 1 1/16-mile turf race at Belmont Park on June 25.

Program Trading stepped up in class against Grade 1 competition for his third career start, which came in the $600,000 Saratoga Derby invitational on Aug. 5. Facing an eight-horse field at Saratoga, Program Trading set the pace and got headed in the stretch but came back late along the rail and earned a hard-fought head victory in 1:56.63 for the 1 3/16th miles on a turf course rated yielding to remain undefeated in three starts.

Program Trading suffered his first loss when second in the Grade 3 Virginia Derby at Colonial Downs on Sept. 9, but then became a second-time Grade 1 winner in his next start when victorious in the Grade 1, $300,000 Hollywood Derby on Dec. 2 going 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Del Mar. Sent off as the odds-on favorite in a seven-horse field in the Hollywood Derby, Program Trading rallied from off the pace in the stretch to prevail by a neck over runner-up Webslinger.

Returning from a five-month layoff in the $1 million Old Forester Bourbon Turf Classic Stakes on the Kentucky Derby undercard May 4, 2024, at Churchill Downs, Program Trading showed no signs of rust. He outbattled European invader Naval Power through a prolonged stretch duel to prevail by a nose in the 1 1/8-mile turf race.

Program Trading is trained by Chad Brown. She was bred in Great Britain by the sire Lope de Vega out of the mare Dreamlike by Oasis Dream.
