Quick, an Olympic Glory mare owned by Hronis Racing and trained by John Sadler, broke through in her ninth North American start to win her first graded stakes on Jan. 17, taking the Grade 3 Astra Stakes by a nose. She broke through the starting gate but recovered and held on late to take the 1 ½-mile turf race under Umberto Rispoli.

England-bred Quick began her racing career in her native country and won two of seven starts there before shipping to California. She gradually improved her form under Sadler’s direction, winning an allowance optional claiming race in her fourth U.S. start in July 2020 and racing competitively in stakes during the fall before her win in the Astra. She is out of the winning Rock of Gibraltar mare The Giving Tree and from the family of U.S. Grade 1 winner and $1.3 million-earning Tuscan Evening.
