After an unplaced finish in her career debut in July 2018 at Woodbine, Rideforthecause did not race again for 14 months. She won her 3-year-old bow Sept. 21, 2019 on the grass at Woodbine and followed with a 1 ¼-length allowance win on the turf at the Toronto-area track when stretching out to 1 1/16 miles. Third next on the synthetic main track at Woodbine, she closed her 3-year-old season with a sixth-place finish, beaten by only two lengths, in the Tropical Park Oaks at Gulfstream Park.

Unplaced in two turf races and one start on dirt in a race that was rained off the turf, Rideforthecause got back on track with a 1 ½-length allowance/optional claiming race victory Aug. 1 on the grass at Woodbine. She followed with a breakout performance in the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes Presented by the Japan Racing Association Sept. 12 at Woodbine, where she reeled in multiple Grade 1 winner Cambier Parc in deep stretch and surged clear to a dominant victory in her graded stakes debut.

Rideforthecause spent the winter and spring of 2021 in Southern California. After finishing unplaced in two graded stakes races, she finished second by a nose in the Grade 3 Santa Barbara Stakes on May 8.

Out of the Giant’s Causeway mare Danceforthecause, Rideforthecause hails from a powerful female family responsible for leading sire Smart Strike as well as Canadian champions Classy ‘n Smart, Rideforthecause’s fourth dam; third dam (maternal great-grandmother) 1991 Canadian Horse of the Year Dance Smartly; and Dancethruthedawn, Sky Classic, Regal Classic, Grey Classic, Hello Seattle, and El Tormenta.
