Salesman (IRE)

Salesman, an Irish-bred Dubawi gelding, made his first 22 starts in France during 2019-23, winning three times and finishing second once in a minor stakes race. He was sent to the U.S. and trainer Richard Mandella during spring 2023, and was no threat in his first two appearances, finishing ninth and 12^th in two stakes races on turf.

The gelding improved however, in his first career start on dirt, checking in third by 3 ½ lengths in the Los Alamitos Special Stakes Sept. 17.

Mandella entered Salesman in the Grade 2 Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance Stakes Nov. 4 on the Breeders’ Cup Saturday card, a marathon 1 5/8-mile dirt race. Jockey Flavien Prat sent his mount straight to the early lead and he was never challenged in a leisurely 8 ¼-length romp over four opponents, tallying his first career stakes win in career start no. 26.
