Scaramouche

Through a very successful 3-year-old season in 2022, Scaramouche established himself as a horse that adores the racing surface at Parx with several wins over the Philadelphia area racetrack throughout the year.

Scaramouche broke his maiden in his second career start on Jan. 31, 2022, in a 6 1/2-furlong race at Parx, and then quickly followed that up in his next start when he won again in the $100,000 Rittenhouse Square Stakes at six furlongs at Parx on March 8.

Scaramouche made an unsuccessful foray out of town for his next start, which came in the Grade 3 Bay Shore at Aqueduct on April 9, finishing fifth in that first career graded stakes attempt. He got right back into the win column in his next start, however, when back at Parx in a seven-furlong optional claiming race on May 21.  His next was another out-of-town assignment, this time at Laurel Park on July 2 in the $99,000 Concern Stakes, where he finished third.

Scaramouche returned to the friendly confines of Parx for two straight allowance wins in August, first winning by 5 1/2 lengths at one mile on Aug. 3, and then winning again at Parx on Aug. 23, this time by 3 1/4 lengths in a six-furlong race.

The next start for Scaramouche came in the Grade 2 $300,000 Gallant Bob Stakes on the Pennsylvania Derby undercard at Parx on Sept. 24. Not even post 14 in a loaded field could stop him that day as he rolled past the leaders from mid-pack and then held off a late charge by Of a Revolution to win by a long neck in a time of 1:10.1 for six furlongs under jockey John Velazquez.

Scaramouche was bred in Kentucky by the sire Munnings out of the mare Haunting by Bernardini. He is trained by Guadalupe Preciado.
