Sharp Starr, a 3-year-old New York-bred Munnings filly owned by Barry Schwartz and trained by Horacio DePaz, broke her maiden in her fourth career start, winning a one-mile race at Belmont Park in July 2020. In the fall, she finished third in her first stakes attempt and then seventh in the postponed Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes, but rebounded to win a one-mile allowance restricted to New York-breds by a dominant 15 ¾ lengths at Aqueduct.
Sharp Starr, a 3-year-old New York-bred Munnings filly owned by Barry Schwartz and trained by Horacio DePaz, broke her maiden in her fourth career start, winning a one-mile race at Belmont Park in July 2020. One start later, Sharp Starr earned her first stakes win in the Grade 3 Go For Wand Handicap at Aqueduct, rallying stoutly in the stretch to edge Portal Creek by a neck.
Sharp Starr earned her first stakes win of 2021 on Oct. 30 at Belmont Park, when she won the Empire Distaff Handicap by 3 1/4 lengths at 16.20-1.
Sharp Starr is out of the A.P. Indy mare Mindy Gold and is a half-brother to stakes-placed Papa Shot. Her third dam is Alabama Stakes winner Classy Cathy, and Florida Derby winner Audible is another notable relative.
