Simply Ravishing, a Laoban filly owned by Harold Lerner, Magdalena Racing and Nehoc Stables and trained by Ken McPeek, won her career debut on turf in a 1 1/16-mile race at Saratoga on Aug. 2, 2020, by a length after pressing the early pace. She returned in the P.G. Johnson Stakes on Sept. 3 at Saratoga, which was rained off of the turf and shortened to seven furlongs on dirt, and romped by 6 ½ lengths after pressing the early pace again.
Simply Ravishing, a Laoban filly owned by Harold Lerner, Magdalena Racing and Nehoc Stables and trained by Ken McPeek, won her career debut on turf in a 1 1/16-mile race at Saratoga on Aug. 2, 2020, by a length after pressing the early pace. She returned in the P.G. Johnson Stakes on Sept. 3 at Saratoga, which was rained off of the turf and shortened to seven furlongs on dirt, and romped by 6 ½ lengths after pressing the early pace again.
That win gave her connections the confidence to start her in the Grade 1 Darley Alcibiades Stakes on dirt at Keeneland, a Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” race for the Juvenile Fillies. With regular rider Luis Saez aboard, Simply Ravishing set the pace throughout and powered clear of a well-matched field to win by 6 ¼ lengths and improve her career record to 3-for-3.
Simply Ravishing suffered the first loss of her career when fourth in the Juvenile Fillies and three weeks later finished fourth again in the Grade 2 Golden Rod Stakes at Churchill Downs.
Harold Lerner bought Simply Breathless for $50,000 at the Fasig-Tipton October yearling auction in 2019. She is out of the More Than Ready mare Four Wishes.
