Surprisingly

Surprisingly won her 2-year-old career debut in a maiden race at Monmouth Park on Sept. 24, 2021. Her only other start of her 2-year-old season was a sixth-place finish in the Tempted Stakes at Belmont Park on Nov. 5.

Surprisingly made her 3-year-old debut in an allowance race at Horseshoe Indianapolis on June 23. 2022, where she was victorious by 3 1/2 lengths in a turf race at one mile. She also won her following start, which was a 3 1/4-length victory in an allowance optional claiming 1 1/16-mile turf race at Ellis Park on July 23. She finished her 3-year-old campaign with a seventh-place finish in the Woodford Reserve Virginia Oaks at Colonial Downs on Sept.6, and then a second-place finish in the Tropical Pak Oaks at Gulfstream Park on Dec. 26.

Surprisingly began her 4-year-old season by earning her first career stakes victory with a win in the Grade 3 Endeavour Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs on Feb. 4. Sent off as the 7-2 odds second choice on the tote board in a field of 11, Surprisingly closed from the rear of the field to win by a neck in a time of 1:40.08 for the 1 1/16 miles on firm turf.

Surprisingly is trained by Shug McGaughey. She was bred in Kentucky by the sire Mastery out of the mare Vagabond by Arch.
