On the heels of her sharp win in her return from a long layoff, Three Witches was next sent to the Grade 2 $200,000 Princess Rooney Stakes at Gulfstream on Oct. 7 and emerged victorious. The Princess Rooney was a Breeders' Cup Challenge Series Win and You're In race, and with her victory, Three Witches qualified for a spot in the starting gate for the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint for her next start on Nov. 4 at Santa Anita Park.
Subsequently in her next start in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, Three Witches outran 34-1 odds to finish third, beaten four lengths in a nine-horse field. She rebounded from that start in her 5-year-old debut, kicking clear to win the Grade 2 Santa Monica Stakes Feb. 3 at Santa Anita.
Three Witches was bred in Kentucky by the sire Into Mischief out of the mare Layreebelle by Tale of the Cat.
