After an unplaced finish in his career debut April 7, 2019, Tide of the Sea showed significant improvement in his second start when running second by a head in May going 1 ¼ miles at Belmont Park. He led from start to finish for a breakthrough, two-length victory in his third start July 25 at Saratoga Race Course. He closed out his 3-year-old campaign with a third-place finish.
In 2020 as a 4-year-old, Tide of the Sea posted a pair of allowances wins and two runner-up finishes against allowance competition before an unplaced finish in the Grade 2 Ft. Lauderdale Stakes Dec. 20.

Tide of the Sea made his 5-year-old bow in the Grade 3 W. L. McKnight Stakes Jan. 23 at Gulfstream and set an unpressured pace through a half-mile in :48.68. He battled gamely when challenged by stablemate Temple in early stretch but gradually edged away to secure his first stakes win.
More than eight months later, Tide of the Sea got back into the winner's circle with a victory in the Japan Turf Cup at Laurel Park on Oct. 2.
Tide of the Sea’s grandam (maternal grandmother) is multiple Grade 1 winner Tates Creek, by Rahy. Tates Creek is a half-sister (same dam, different sire) to multiple Grade 1 winner Sightseek.
