Tiz the Bomb finished fifth in his career debut May 14, 2021, on the main track at Churchill Downs. He was entered in a turf race for his next start but inclement weather forced the race to be moved to the main track and the 2-year-old Hit It a Bomb colt led from start to finish in a 14 ¼-length win.

Tiz the Bomb made his stakes debut in the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Mile Stakes and rallied from seven length back to win by three-quarters of a length Sept. 6. He made his next start in the Grade 2 Castle & Key Bourbon Stakes, a “Win and You’re In” Challenge Series Race for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, but faced adversity on several fronts in the Oct. 10 race at Keeneland as he was starting from post-position 12 and also broke through the starting gate before the race began. He settled into a stalking position under jockey Brian Hernandez Jr., but was passed by several horses on the final turn. Tiz the Bomb’s talent won out, however, as he rallied powerfully in the stretch to prevail and earn an expenses-paid berth in the Juvenile Turf Nov. 5 at Del Mar.
At Del Mar on Nov. 5, Tiz the Bomb closed powerfully in the stretch of the Juvenile Turf and finished a determined second to winner Modern Games.
After a disappointing performance in the Grade 3 Holy Bull Stakes to start his 3-year-old season, Tiz the Bomb bounced back with a determined win in the John Battaglia Memorial Stakes at Turfway Park on Mar. 5, 2022. He split horses entering in the stretch and struck the front, but had to fend off the challenge of Stolen Base. The two battled down the stretch, but Tiz the Bomb held on to win by a neck. His win earned him 10 qualifying points on the road to the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve.
Tiz the Bomb made his next start in the Grade 3 Jeff Ruby Steaks at Turfway on Apr. 2. He made a three-wide move on the turn and struck the front as they turned for home. This time, Stolen Base proved no match, and Tiz the Law crossed the wire a 2 1/4-length winner. He earned 100 more qualifying points for the Derby with this win.
