Trafalgar made his debut in a seven-furlong maiden special weight race at Saratoga on Sept. 4, 2021. He chased runaway winner Classic Causeway and held on to second.
Next out, Trafalgar broke his maiden by 2 1/4 lengths at Churchill Downs on Oct. 2. Unlike his debut, where he rated near the pace, he came from far behind and inhaled his rivals late to win going away.
In his first start against winners, Trafalgar won a first-level allowance optional claiming race at Fair Grounds on Dec. 2 by a head.
