Juddmonte Farms’ homebred Verbal made his career debut Oct. 10. 2021, at Belmont Park and won a one-mile maiden special weight race by four lengths with an eye-catching rally from off the pace under jockey Jose Ortiz.
Trainer Chad Brown then tested the Flintshire colt against stakes competition in the Grade 3 Cecil B. DeMille Stakes Nov. 28 at Del Mar, and verbal again rallied from sixth to prevail by a half-length as the even-money favorite.
