Waskesiu

Waskesiu won her maiden race in her third career start as a 2-year-old in her first lifetime start on turf going 1 1/16 miles at Aqueduct on Nov. 18, 2023. She began her 3-year-old campaign on Jan. 6, 2024, at Gulfstream Park where she placed third in the $125,000 Ginger Brew Stakes going one mile on the grass.

She shipped to Tampa Bay Downs for her first shot in a graded stakes on March 9 in the Grade 3 $200,000 Florida Oaks going 1 1/16 miles on the turf. In the Florida Oaks, Waskesiu stalked the pace close-up in an 11-horse field and came with a grinding effort through the stretch to eventually prevail by a length.

Waskesiu is trained by Bill Mott. She was bred in Ontario, Canada by the sire American Pharoah out of the mare Finn's Girl by Bernardini.
