Edgard Zayas, a native of Puerto Rico, attended a jockey school in his home country and began riding in the U.S. in fall 2012. He picked up his first Grade 1 win the following summer aboard Starship Truffles in the Princess Rooney Handicap. Based in south Florida, Zayas has also collected two graded stakes wins with top-class sprinter/miler Sharp Azteca.
