Marcelino Pedroza, a native of Panama, started his career racing at tracks in the South and Midwest and enjoyed success at Fair Grounds and Indiana Grand Race Course. He led all jockeys in wins and earnings at Indiana Grand in 2019 and earned his first graded stakes win at Fair Grounds with Captivating Moon in spring 2021.
Pedroza began riding in the U.S. in 2010 and is the son of a former jockey and the nephew of U.S. rider Martin Pedroza. He missed most of 2020 due to injury but recovered to receive his first Kentucky Derby mount in 2021 on O Besos.
