The 1989 Eclipse Award winner as outstanding apprentice jockey, Mike Luzzi comes from a family of horsemen. His grandfather Buddy Raines was a trainer and his older brother John also is a jockey.
Mike Luzzi, who did not earn his first career win until his 73rd mount, is inspired by Racing Hall of Famers Steve Cauthen and Angel Cordero Jr. and his goal is to one day win the Kentucky Derby.
