all in Aftercare

Moab was donated to The University of Findlay (UF) in the spring of 2023 by Godolphin, one of the world’s leading Thoroughbred breeding and racing operations. Godolphin, also a proud supporter of Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, is profoundly invested in the aftercare of Thoroughbreds. For years, Godolphin has supported UF's breaking and retraining program by donating horses, highlighting their commitment to Thoroughbred aftercare.

Misty’s Blue Knight, a 2000 gray Thoroughbred gelding, was abandoned in a field in Maryland. Thankfully, Animal Control rescued him and brought him to Brook Hill Retirement Center For Horses in Forest, Va. Brook Hill  is a Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance accredited organization that specializes in rehabilitation, retraining, adoption, equine-assisted therapy, and sanctuary for Thoroughbreds. It is also certified by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH).

Old Friends, the Thoroughbred retirement farm in Georgetown, Ky., has announce the arrival of 2008 Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner Big Brown for his retirement.

West Point Thoroughbreds will be represented by not one, but two graded stakes winners at the 2024 Thoroughbred Makeover: Cavalry Charge and Decorated Invader! Their Thoroughbred Makeover trainers, Erin Knehr and Mary Termer, will be telling the stories of these two winners in a joint blog entry each month.

Mary Termer update on Decorated Invader:

Kimberly Quinn rode with Jennifer Blades at Willowbrooke Farm. Kimberly was in search of her next horse when Friend of Dubai joined the CANTER Michigan herd at the farm. Friend of Dubai, a 2016 dark bay Thoroughbred gelding, had raced 21 times and earned $30,523 over his three-year career. Friend of Dubai had only two under-saddle rides off the track, so when Kimberly inquired about him Jennifer said that she was "uncertain about his potential.”
