It is widely understood that the Kentucky Derby has a longstanding love affair with hats and fascinators. From its humble beginnings in 1875, the Kentucky Derby has grown into a mega-fashion event where elaborate headwear takes center stage. SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Secretariat’s historic 1973 Triple Crown sweep, the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will present traveling and onsite exhibitions honoring the accomplishments and enduring legacy of the famed Meadow Stable colt from May through October.

Season 2 of “Stake in Stardom,” the America’s Best Racing initiative in which brand ambassadors become minority stake owners in an elite Thoroughbred, is underway. This year’s roster includes a few familiar faces from last season in addition to several new personalities eager to experience the sport and lifestyle of horse racing up close.

We’re less than three weeks away from the biggest event in North American Thoroughbred racing, and contenders for the 149th Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve are making their way to Churchill Downs to settle in and conduct final workouts before the big race on May 6.

This year, America’s Best Racing and the Retired Racehorse Project will be sharing diaries from several trainers preparing for the 2023 Thoroughbred Makeover competition, scheduled for Oct. 11-14 at the Kentucky Horse Park. Meet adult amateur rider Julianne Pangal and her RRP hopeful, Funnee, as they gear up for their maiden voyage to the Thoroughbred Makeover.
