Horse racing is set to join Netflix’s stable of sports documentaries as the Racing Post understands the streaming service has commissioned a series based on this year’s Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve.

The Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve and Super Bowl are uniquely and indelibly etched into the fabric of American culture. One dates back to 1875. The other found its footing in the 1966 season with the first game being played on Jan. 15, 1967. One owns a Saturday, the other a Sunday.

Three qualifying points races for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve are on the North American racing schedule for the upcoming weekend, all held on Saturday, Feb. 10.

The Super Bowl is this Sunday, and if you’re planning to gather friends to watch the Patriots of New England do battle with Philadelphia’s Eagles, you may need a few recipes on hand to keep your guests strong for the big game. Great news, sports fans: If you’ve ever thrown a Kentucky Derby party, you’re already set for catering a Super Bowl bash. Below are some perfect Kentucky-inspired recipes that will delight your revelers this Sunday.

In August 2017, on being named president of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, John Hendrickson summarized his vision for expanding the appeal of the 67-year-old Saratoga Springs, N.Y. institution to a simple philosophy.

“It’s not just our job to showcase history,” Hendrickson said that day. “We have to reach out and promote the sport. The museum has always done traditional things well, and we want to maintain the prestige of the place, but we have to go out and engage the next generation, which gets information through smart devices.”
