The Breeders’ Cup World Championships returned to Arcadia, Calif., in 2023 for a record 11th time as the event celebrated its 40th Anniversary. A sensational Southern California fall afternoon greeted racing fans for the marquee year-end event. Future Stars Friday highlights the best up-and-coming talent Thoroughbred racing has to offer, and scenic Santa Anita Park likewise is one of the sport's signature venues. Eclipse Sportswire was on site to capture the splendor of Fall Stars Friday.

As the 40th edition of the Nov. 3-4 World Championships at Santa Anita Park approaches, Hayley Amoss, senior manager of social media and content at Breeders’ Cup, is in the midst of her busiest time of the year.

Elizabeth Merryman knew she had the horse of a lifetime after she bred Caravel and trained her to six victories in her first eight starts. She also knew she was in for the fight of a lifetime after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in early July 2021.

One of the most anticipated events for horse racing fans and bettors is right around the corner, as the countdown is on for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships set for Friday, Nov. 3, and Saturday, Nov. 4, at Santa Anita Park.

For the first time in its history, books by female authors dominate the William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award shortlist. Following an independent judging process by a panel of experts in sports and journalism, four of the six are titles written by women, the highest percentage of female finalists since the competition started in 1989.
