A few weeks ago, this was not what I thought I would be writing. I had hoped that I would be saying that Dom and I had made it to Kentucky and were excited to be competing at the Thoroughbred Makeover and achieving my dream of showing at the Kentucky Horse Park. But, unfortunately, that is not the case and Dom and I did not make the trip down to Kentucky.

Anyone lucky enough to visit multiple U.S. racetracks would make the observation that each one has its own unique charm. Some horse tracks are bigger than others. Some allow you to get closer to the horses, while others are designed to accommodate a range of attractions including live music, backyard picnics, fine dining, or VIP-level seating and hospitality.

This past week in Lexington, Ky., the Retired Racehorse Project Thoroughbred Makeover took place at the picturesque Kentucky Horse Park, where 403 racehorses competed in various disciplines, showcasing their versatility and readability. Some horses boasted graded accolades and earnings in the six figures for their careers, while others never reached the starting gate.

The Breeders’ Cup World Championships serves as the de facto Super Bowl of the Thoroughbred racing season with 14 championship races over the two-day event Nov. 3-4 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif..

The race winners very often take command in their respective divisions and go on to secure year-end championship (Eclipse Award) honors on the basis of their performance at the Breeders’ Cup, making Future Stars Friday for 2-year-olds and Championship Saturday must-watch TV.

The upcoming Breeders’ Cup World Championship is not just a prestigious horse racing event; it’s also a fashion extravaganza where attendees can showcase their unique style while paying homage to the equestrian tradition.
