Gulfstream Park, located in Hallandale Beach, Fla. – just north of Miami – is one of the most scenic racetracks in America. The place is also an entertainment destination, offering horse racing, a casino, bars, restaurants and some high-end shopping.

If this weekend is your first trip out here, it’s always good to know where you’d like to spend the day; so I spent this afternoon wandering around the facility to help you get familiar with the scene here at Gulfstream.

The first time I met Chris Aplin, I thought she was an angel. In 2010, I had wandered onto the backside of Oaklawn Park in hopes of finding Zenyatta. I found her, but her very handsome bodyguard was keeping me half a barn away. He did, however, agree to take a few pictures of Zenyatta with my camera.

Eclipse Sportswire was at Santa all week leading up to the 2014 Breeders’ Cup World Championships and captured the power of the amazing athletes and the incredible atmosphere from a fantastic year-end event. Enjoy this slideshow of the Best of Breeders’ Cup 2014.

My Breeders’ Cup Friday started with a bit of a surprise: after waking up every morning well before the crack of dawn, I decided to let myself sleep in a bit. Silly me: I forgot that I had a photographers’ meeting in the winner’s circle at 8:30 a.m. Thankfully, my internal alarm roused me at about 7 a.m. and after a fortuitous e-mail moment I got myself together and to the track in plenty of time.
