The 2022 Breeders’ Cup World Championships is fast approaching, and two weeks from now Lexington, Ky., will be in the early stages of what promises to be a weeklong party as the self-proclaimed “Thoroughbred Capital of the World” gears up for its third time hosting the event at Keeneland Race Course on Nov. 4 and 5.

Above all things, the 101st Far Hills Race Meeting was another celebration for all involved that produced  a wealth of smiles.

Yet the featured race of the Oct. 15 card, the $250,000 Grand National Hurdle, generated a much different emotion than the joy seen in all corners of the racetrack throughout the day.

There were tears welling in the eyes of Irish trainer John “Shark” Hanlon and his emotions poured out after T.J. McDonald’s Hewick captured the Grade 1 steeplechase stakes by a widening 11 ½ lengths.

The final weekend of domestic Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” races has come and gone, and now the main focus of media attention will shift to following leading contenders for the 39th World Championships as they prepare for starts in one of the 14 races held at Keeneland Race Course on Nov. 4-5.

It’s no hyperbole to state that the upcoming weekend in North American horse racing will be the most eventful – and possibly the most exciting – one on the calendar aside from Kentucky Derby and Breeders’ Cup weekends.

Are you a horse racing fan that is planning a trip this fall to Keeneland Race Course, either for the fall meet and/or the Breeders’ Cup?  If you answered yes, you are not alone. As host of the 2022 World Championships, Lexington, Ky. will surely be a popular travel destination for horseplayers and racing fans from far and wide this season.
