Greg Foley, the son of trainer Dravo Foley, began his own career managing horses in 1981 and once established became a mainstay on the Midwest circuit for decades. A native of Oldham Co., Ky., just northeast of Louisville, Foley picked up his first victory at Fair Grounds in January 1981.

He has won training titles at his home track Churchill Downs, Ellis Park, and Turfway Park and earned career victory 1,000 on Jan. 23, 2008. Foley’s best horses include graded stakes winners Champali, Golden Marlin, and Sconsin, and he also shepherded multiple stakes winner Bango to tie the all-time record for wins by a horse at Churchill Downs in 2023.
Foley’s sister Vickie is also a successful trainer.
