Louisville native Tom Drury Jr. emerged on the national scene in 2020 as the trainer of Kentucky Presented by Woodford Reserve contender Art Collector, winner of the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes. A protégé of former trainer Frank Brothers, Drury won his first race as a trainer in 1991 and built up a reputation on the Kentucky circuit for handling horses and caring for them during layoffs between races. He amassed a good record at tracks in Kentucky and Indiana through the years, but received a big break in 2020 when owner Bruce Lunsford transferred Art Collector to him over the winter.

Drury capitalized on that good fortune as the colt developed into a leading divisional contender over the spring and summer in advance of the Kentucky Derby, which was delayed until September due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Drury won his first stakes race in 2008 with Model’s Memo. Art Collector is Drury’s first graded stakes winner.
