After an unplaced finish in his career debut, Lookin to Strike won his second start in October 2017 at Woodbine. He tried the synthetic surface at Woodbine for his third start after racing on grass in his first two race and finished unplaced in the Grade 3 Grey Stakes.

It took three starts into his 3-year-old campaign in 2018 for Lookin to Strike to earn his first win on the year, taking an allowance race on the synthetic surface at Woodbine. After an unplaced finish in a turf stakes at Woodbine, Lookin to Strike returned to the synthetic surface for an allowance win in September. He then earned a breakthrough victory in the Grade 3 Ontario Derby when he held off Curlin’s Honor to prevail by a neck at Woodbine.
