Offlee Naughty

Offlee Naughty won his maiden race as a 3-year-old on Oct. 3, 2021 in a 1 1/8-mile turf race at Santa Anita. He then won again two races later in a 1 3/8-mile allowance optional claiming race at Del Mar on Nov. 25.

Offlee Naughty was winless in his first eight starts of his 4-year-old season in 2022 until finally getting back in the win column when switched to a synthetic track for the first time on Dec. 11 in an optional claiming race at Turfway Park, which he won by 5 3/4 lengths at 1 1/4 miles.

With wins at 1 3/8 miles and 1 1/4 miles in his back pocket, Offlee Naughty was sent back to southern California and back onto the turf for his next start, which came in the Grade 2 $200,000 Charles Wittingham Stakes at 1 1/4 miles on the grass at Santa Anita in his first race as a 5-year-old on April 8, 2023. Racing as the 11-1 longest shot on the board in a field of six horses, Offlee Naughty rallied from last-to-first to win the Wittingham by one length in a time of 2:02.45 in a race that started on Santa Anita's downhill turf course.

In his next start, Offlee Naughty was sent off as the 8-5 favorite in a seven-horse field in the Grade 3 $100,000 San Luis Rey Stakes at Santa Anita on May 13. He made his typical closing move to draw clear in deep stretch on his way to a 1 1/4 -length victory in a time of 2:24.87 for the 1 1/2 miles on firm furf.

Offlee Naughy was bred in Kentucky by the sire Flashback out of the mare Acting Naughty by Offlee Wild. He is trained by Michael McCarthy.
