Taxed was unplaced in her first two starts before leading from start to finish in a $50,000 maiden claiming race Nov. 20, 2022, at Churchill Downs. The gray or roan filly by Collected was claimed out of that race by trainer Randy Morse on behalf of owner Richard Bahde and finished fourth in the Years End Stakes at Oaklawn Park in her final start as a 2-year-old.

Taxed finished second to division standout Wet Pain in both the Martha Washington Stakes and the Grade 3 Fantasy Stakes to emerge as a contender for the 2023 Longines Kentucky Oaks, but she did not have quite enough qualifying points and was left on the outside looking in on the also-eligible list.

Morse re-routed her to the $300,000 George E. Mitchell Black-Eyed Susan Stakes on May 19 at Pimlico and she came through with a breakout race, surging past pacesetter Hoosier Philly in the stretch on her way to a runaway victory, completing the 1 1/8 miles in 1:49.45 on a track rated as fast.

The Kentucky-bred filly is out of the stakes-placed Yankee Gentleman mare Yankee Union.
