Shidabhuti

Shidabhuti was a $310,000 purchase by Peter Brant at the 2021 Keeneland September yearling sale and the bay filly by Practical Joke showed significant promise as soon as she set foot on the racetrack. Shidabhuti won her career debut by 6 ½ length Sept. 17, 2022, at Monmouth Park. She then opened her 3-year-old season with back-to-back open-length wins in an optional claiming race in January 2023 and the Busher Invitational Stakes in March, both at Aqueduct.

She made her next start on the path to the Longines Kentucky Oaks in the 1 /18-mile Gazelle Stakes in April and finished third, two lengths behind winner Promiseher America.

Shidabhuti was given a break after the Gazelle and returned in the Boiling Springs Stakes in July at Monmouth, where she finished second. After running a well-beaten ninth in the Grade 3 Monmouth Oaks, trainer Chad Brown gave her an extended stretch of time off.

Shidabhuti made her first start in more than eight months in the $175,000, Grade 3 Distaff Stakes on April 6, 2024 at Aqueduct. She looked like a more mature filly in her return and reeled in Ain’t Broke in the closing strides for a half-length win, completing the seven furlongs in 1:23.86 for her first career graded stakes win.

Shidabhuti was produced by the unraced Candy Ride mare A. P. Candy from the family of Grade 1 winner and sire Majestic Warrior and Grade 1 winners Dream Supreme and Spinning Round.
