Anisette (GB)

Anisette began her career as a 2-year-old in England and won her maiden victory in her third lifetime start at Wolverhampton on Dec. 27, 2022. Anisette was sent to train in Southern California for her 3-year-old season and won her west coast debut with an allowance win at Santa Anita on May 29, 2023.

Anisette made her stakes debut a winning one in her next race, which came in the Grade 2 $200,000 San Clemente Stakes going one mile on the turf on July 22 at Del Mar. Racing 10th in a 14-horse field early in the race, Anisette unleashed a strong rally to circle the field and drew away in the stretch to win by 2 1/2 lengths.

Anisette returned later in the meet at Del Mar as the starring attraction in the $300,000 Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks as the 4-5 favorite on the tote board in a field of 10 3-year-old fillies. Anisette did not disappoint. After trailing the field early in the race, Anisette got a dream trip up the rail and rallied from last to first to blow away the field for a 2 3/4-length victory in a 1 1/8-mile winning time of 1:48.15 over firm turf.

The rising star filly squared off against older females in her next start, the Oct. 7 Grade 2 Rodeo Drive Stakes at Santa Anita Park, and she finished a solid second behind Didia. Anisette then was runner-up again against fellow 3-year-olds in the Nov. 5 Autumn Miss Stakes at Santa Anita, checking in 3 ¼ lengths behind Ruby Nell as the 7-10 favorite. Following a layoff of nearly two months, Anisette returned to Santa Anita for the Grade 1 American Oaks on the track’s Dec. 26 opening-day card, and she also found her way to the winner’s circle again with a powerful, stretch-running score in the 1 ¼-mile race over pacesetter Be Your Best.

Anisette made her 4-year-old debut after a brief layoff on May 27, 2024, in the Grade 1, $300,000 Gamely Stakes going 1 1/8 miles on the turf course at Santa Anita. In the Gamely, Anisette stalked a runaway leader on a moderate pace and then issued her challenge at the top of the stretch and won a battle in the lane to prevail by a half a length to earn her second consecutive Grade 1 win. She followed with a 1 ¼-length victory in the Grade 2 Yellow Ribbon Stakes Aug. 10 at Del Mar.

Anisette is trained by Leonard Powell. She was bred in Great Britain by the sire Awtaad out of the mare Tutti Frutti by Teofilo.
